Bud is responsible for helping Havel’s clients throughout the greater Indianapolis area achieve greater control over their building systems. He evaluates systems performance to identify improvements that can enable more productive, cost-effective, and energy-efficient operation. 

As a member of Havel’s standards committee on temperature controls, Bud helps analyze the potential impact of new products, advanced installation techniques, and recent revisions to the Indiana Energy Code. He works with the committee to find innovative ways these developments can help clients meet their changing needs.

In collaboration with Havel’s construction team, Bud develops estimates and proposals. His depth of experience equips him to prepare thorough scopes of work and detail the standards, devices, and control sequences necessary to integrate all system components for maximum performance. 

Following the completion of projects, Bud oversees commissioning to determine if clients systems’ contribute to providing optimal building environments, reducing energy consumption and costs, and delivering the ongoing value needed for complete client satisfaction.

Expertise

Bud has been in the mechanical contracting business with Shambaugh and Havel for more than 30 years. During that time, he has served as Branch Manager, Service Manager, and Operations Manager. 

His wide array of project experience includes temperature controls installations, mechanical retrofits, and maintenance contracting. His expertise extends from technical sales and project management to HVAC evaluation and building commissioning. 

A 1980 graduate of Bell Labs with a degree in electronics, Bud is also a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers Central Indiana Chapter.

The Personal Side

Bud enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, as well as hunting, fishing, and winemaking. As a professional pyrotechnician, he also assists with commercial fireworks displays.
